To download the PDFs, click a Surah you want to download, then at top of page you will get archive link, then on this link find the Surah you want to download from the archive PDF links, e.g. to download Surah 56, find 56.pdf by moving cursor over the pdf links on archive, and then download that. The translator has uploaded different updates of same Surah on different archive locations, so the way to download the latest translation attempt is to click the Surah and then download the PDF for it from that archive link. Also note down the update number from which you downloaded, so that later you can keep checking whether the translation for that Surah has been further updated or not.

This set places one or a couple of words of the ‘ayah in one line of a column and gives their meanings side by side in another column, taking care to see that the flow and intelligibility of the English meanings are not thereby lost. This method enables the reader to identify which English words or phrases represent the meaning of which words in the Arabic text. It has the additional advantage of keeping the meaning strictly to the wording of the text or importing in the meaning any word or expression that has no correspondence with anything in the text.

To further facilitate the understanding of the text, the meanings of almost all important words in the text have been given separately. To do this a number has been placed on the English word which represents the meaning of the particular word in the text and then the meanings of that word have been given under that number in another column by the side of the general meaning of the text. The numbering has been kept individual for each page. Also grammatical notes, particularly verb forms and verbal nouns, have been given as far as possible. As the words recur at different pages, so their meanings and grammatical notes also have been repeated, giving cross reference to at least one previous occurrence of the word, indicating the page on which and the number under which the word has been explained before. The aim has been to enable a non-Arab reader to understand the Qur’an as well as to improve his knowledge of Arabic, particularly the Qur’anic Arabic.
There are many translations existing and in circulation of the Holy Qur’an. Professor Ali does not claim any speciality of it. “I do not claim any specialty of it,” Professor Ali said and explained his objective of translation thus: “My work is different in this respect that I have tried to give a word to word meaning of the Qur’an. I must explain that a word-for-word meaning of the Qur’an does not have the sense of what is known as the literal translation of the Qur’an, because there is confusion about the term literal translation. I do not accept that view, that literal translation of the Qur’an is possible. What I have tried to do is to give the simple meaning of the Arabic words of the Qur’an.”
About his translation Professor Ali said, “The translation that I gave is continuous, the meaning is clear, the English is idiomatic, not broken, so that even if the Arabic text is not kept side by side, by reading the English only, the sense can be understood and sense can be found. That is why I have named it the Word-for-Word Meaning of the Qur’an.”

The English is understandable, intelligible as well as side-by-side. Another feature of the book is that the meaning of the word is given side by side.

The third feature of this translation is the cross-references. Professor Ali has given cross-references. He has given the word meaning side by side along with the general English meaning and within the Arabic grammar and also the verb forms, so that any person who does not know Arabic can get some help in learning Qur’anic Arabic and if any Englishman wants to know and understand the meaning of the Qur’an, he will have with him the text as well as the English meaning.

“There are so many talks going on now-a-days that there is no perfect English translation of the Qur’an. Of course, Qur’an cannot be translated into any language as such, but the meaning can be written and that is what I have attempted to do,” commented Professor Ali.

The fourth feature of the translation is a detailed analytical indexing. The book runs into three volumes, each volume is about 700 pages; the total pages of the book is 2096, out of which the index is more than 60 pages from 2036 to 2096 pages.

While explaining about the index, Professor Ali observed: “I have prepared the index as far as possible. I want to admit that it is very difficult, or perhaps impossible, to give an exhaustive complete index of the Holy Qur’an and in course of my doing this index, I found that even one Ayah has reference to so many topics and so many ideas. So many themes are concentrated in one Ayah that even sometimes I was puzzled under which heading or under how many headings I should enter one Ayah.”

Dr. Muhammad Mohar Ali (Father of Abu Muntasir, Ameer of Jimas (Jam’iat Ihyaa’Minhaaj al-Sunnah Ipswich, England), was born in Khulna in Bengal, he was a scholar of Seerah and Hadith who served as a lecturer of Islamic History at the Islamic Universities of Madinah and Riyadh for two decades before moving to England.
Shaykh Mohar Ali made several important contributions in the fields of Islamic history and the spread of Islam outside the Arab world. He was the first Bangladeshi to win the King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies.
His work provided an incisive new dimension to the way Muslims view contemporary issues and their historical contexts. In particular, he distinguished himself with his clear exposition of Orientalism and missionary activity, making Quranic Arabic more accessible to English speakers…

Following is the method:
1. Each volunteer translator is provided number of pages which he or she has to translate, number of pages are chosen after discussing with the translator. i.e. as much as the translator wants to do.
2. The Qur’anic text has to be copied from Quran . com
3. The Arabic text has to be typed using downloaded eiktub (I can teach how to use) or eiktub . com
4. The work is to be done based on priorities and in independent stages, i.e. each stage can be released and published as pdf and in the end stages can be combined also.
5. The users can send their contributions via email.
6. The words on which translator is not confident and satisfied and wants me to review his translated word, he should write that word in red text.
7. Insha’ALLAH!, in each root entry the short code for the translator is to be given and at the end of the entry, and at the end of the compilation details of translator is to be given, e.g. AI2 for me is short code and in the end I can mention complete name, email, and some more basic things so that other projects can contact.
8. Insha’ALLAH!, the translators whose translations fulfill quality criteria, will be marked at the end as capable of being hired as paid translators.

Here are the 1st 2 stages, next stages to be mentioned here once these are done:
1. Translation of roots starting with qaaf till roots starting with ya ق ، ك ، ل ، م ، ن، ه ، و ، ي from Mufradat Ar Raghib Urdu Translation. Images of pages or pdf can be provided. Number of pages in stage 1 = 361 (pdf numbering 265 to 625, book numbering 262 to 622 )
2. Translation of roots starting with qaaf till roots starting with ya ق ، ك ، ل ، م ، ن، ه ، و ، ي from Lughaat ul Qur’an by Abdur Rasheed Noumani. Images of pages or pdf can be provided.  (estimated number of pages = 600, words based on same root will be found on different pages since this dictionary is not arranged according to roots but according to words, but I will insha’ALLAH provide the page numbers to translator for each entry)
Note: Reason of giving higher priority to these 8 letters is that Lane’s Lexicon is not complete for roots starting with these letters mostly.

Notes: Lane’s Lexicon can be used, & is a recognized Arabic Vocabulary tool, but for roots starting with qaaf, kaaf, laam, miim, nuun, hay, waw & ya, explanation & material on roots is usually not complete since Lane died while working on qaaf, & later his nephew completed the work mostly using Lane’s notes. LL Mobile can also be used on computers by simply reducing browser width. Lane’s Lexicon with English search has some typing errors in Arabic but still can be used “To copy paste the text from the lexicon (after which you will have to verify the Arabic words using any other free scanned Lane’s Lexicon relevant material)” and “To search English words”. To start navigating it, click the blue arrow on the left of Edward William Lane. Qur’anic Arabic Corpus can be a useful tool but is under construction & Kais is taking his time, so use with additional verification & caution. PRL can be used for quickly studying or downloading Lane’s Lexicon relevant pages for roots used in the Qur’an & for checking which derivatives of a root have been used in which Ayaat, but it is stuck near 70% since long time. Avoid the English meanings of PRL completely if you aren’t experienced. http://www.studyquran.co.uk from which Lane’s Lexicon 1st 2 links & PRL are linked is run by a Sunnah rejecter, so try to avoid his remaining material if you don’t have sufficient experience. In Dictionary of The Qur’an, negative bias is expected in some meanings like khatama, wafa etc. I mainly recommend using the list of roots used in the Qur’an & derived words for each root used in the Qur’an from this book but study the English material with caution since source referencing style is vague & he is a Qadiani. Dictionary of about 1400+ roots is a vocabulary specific dictionary (focusing on vocabulary & usage, not grammar) that can be used by experienced users with caution since qadiani bias is expected at some places. Concordance of the Qur’an by Hanna uses Arberry’s translation & is a limited concordance book that can be checked just to see a preview of concordance uses. Open Burhan is an online concordance tool by a Sunnah rejecter & is not complete yet, so use with caution. Translations comparison tool is only for those who understand sufficient Arabic & just want to check out how others have translated various Ayaat to help them further in their translation attempts, some of the translations given in it are by deviant groups. To use faithfuleye, click A C E at the top for showing/hiding Arabic, Chinese, English. On 2 boxes with go, enter surah # in 1st box and Ayat # in 2nd box & click go, then click Arabic word you want to study in further detail, then check various occurrences & other derivatives of root. For experienced users only as may contain some mistakes, to be used with caution/additional verification. Mazhar A Nurani’s site has some grammar notes that experienced users may study. Some views by him are deviant e.g. rejects return of Hazrat ‘Eesa (pbuh) despite obvious hints in the Qur’an, rejects that 1st Qibla of Muslims was Bayt ul Maqdis, calls Ar-Rahmaan Personal Name of ALLAH, translation attempts contain extra words. Qur’an dev tool appears to be based on corpus site and thus limitations of corpus site, may appear in it also.
